A former five-star restaurant manager is opening a new eatery later this year.

Ryan Humphrey hopes to officially open No 14 Wesley Walk in Witney in mid-November.

The cafe restaurant will be in the premises formerly occupied by Hackett's cafe bar which has been redeveloped into flats and commercial space.

Mr Humphrey, who has a background in luxury hotels, said: "It's a building project and we broke ground on Monday.

"At the moment it's an empty shell but  I’ve done all the designs and all being well will be open in the middle of November."

A former restaurant manager at Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, he also worked at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury and Le Manoir in Great Milton.

Most recently he joined two friends at The Carpenters Arms in Fulbrook in 2020 just before lockdown.

But he was convinced he could go it alone after refurbishing and running a cafe at a friend's jewellers.

He said: "I’ve always wanted to do something a bit more relaxed and casual.

"Hospitality is what I really enjoy but wanted to be a bit more relaxed than the stuffy kind of thing you get with a hotel.

"I’m branding it as a café and restaurant.

"You can come in and get all the classic café fare, a jacket potato, a bowl of soup, a toasted sandwich and all the usual cakes and patisserie but as well you can get a bowl of homecooked pasta or a glass of wine."
