Cherwell District Council has pledged to improve housing in north Oxfordshire.
The commitment comes following the council's executive meeting on Monday, September 9, which saw its new Housing Strategy 2025 - 2030 approved for a public consultation.
Councillor Chris Pruden, portfolio holder for housing, said: "Housing that meets our residents’ needs is a key commitment of this council.
"This new strategy document will underpin the services we provide to vulnerable people and our management of housing in the district."
The strategy has three priorities - delivering affordable homes, improving the condition of existing housing, and promoting community health and wellbeing through housing initiatives and tackling homelessness.
Mr Pruden added: "Everyone deserves to live in a safe and quality home, so the progress of this new strategy is good news, and I am sure lots of people will have their say and help shape it as we progress to consultation."
The council reviews its housing strategy every five years to ensure it aligns with the latest developments, including legislative changes and social housing availability.
The new strategy is informed by a review of national and local housing pressures, including the supply of affordable and social housing, rising homelessness rates, and the cost of living crisis.
An action plan will be developed when the final strategy is adopted, with annual progress reports submitted to the overview and scrutiny committee.
