All of the snakes that have been spotted in Oxfordshire have been mapped by experts to try to better understand the creatures.
Typically found in long grassed areas, snakes have long had the reputation of being deadly creatures.
The UK is home to many harmless snakes, but one venomous species is found in the UK which is the adder.
We have pieced together all of the snakes, including adders, grass snakes and smooth snakes, and mapped them for Oxfordshire and the whole of the UK.

There have been a total of nine snake sightings across various parts of Oxfordshire in 2024 according to the latest map.
Grass snakes were spotted in North Oxfordshire in Banbury as well as Upper Tadmarton and another in nearby Chipping Norton.
An Adder was spotted close to Bicester but across the border into Buckinghamshire whilst two grass snake sightings were made north of Banbury in Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
A grass snake was spotted near Witney while another was seen close to RAF Brize Norton.
Between Abingdon and Kennington, there was one snake spotted but there was also one sighting in Abingdon and one at the Thames View Industrial Estate on the edge of the town.

A final snake was spotted outside of Watlington while there have been numerous other instances of the public finding them on the borders of Oxfordshire.
