West Oxfordshire residents have been invited to share their views on a potential levy on new developments in the area.
The proposed Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge which can be levied by local authorities on new development to help to fund supporting infrastructure.
This infrastructure could include transport, flood defences, schools, green space or community and cultural facilities.
West Oxfordshire District Council encouraged people to share their opinions, saying: "Have your say on the new CIL draft charging schedule.
"This levy will fund vital infrastructure projects such as transport, flood defences, schools, and green spaces. By contributing to CIL, we can ensure our district has the essential infrastructure it needs to thrive."
The consultation, which is available on the council's website, is taking place over an extended eight week period and will finish on September 27, having opened on August 2.
The council said evidence prepared in support of the West Oxfordshire Local Plan identified a lack of funding for infrastructure needed to support future growth in the district up to 2031.
While some of this is already funded, or at least able to be funded through other mechanisms, it said the remaining gap could be covered by money collected through the CIL.
The levy only applies in areas where a local authority has consulted on, and approved, a charging schedule which sets out its levy rates.
