An Oxfordshire primary school will shut for a day this week for an emergency closure.

Clanfield Church of England Primary School in Bampton will be closed throughout tomorrow (Friday, September 9) just days after children have returned after the summer holidays.

Oxfordshire County Council announced the closure on its website on Thursday and stated that the reason for the closure was an issue with the electricity supply.

The school is open today (Thursday, September 5) but will not reopen until after the weekend.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council said: "Schools have contact arrangements for when they need to close the school at short notice.

"Contacts may include bespoke parent mailing systems, text, social media, and the school website.

"We rely on schools telling us they are closed.

"The list below [which features only Clanfield Church of England Primary School today] shows schools we know are closed.

"If many schools are closed due to adverse weather, updating the list may take longer."
