Oxford's Westgate Shopping Centre will host 50 OxTrail sculptures this weekend before they are auctioned for charity.

The oxen will be presented on September 7 and 8, prior to the auction on September 13 in support of Oxford-based Sobell House Hospice.

This summer, 138 uniquely painted oxen were showcased throughout Oxfordshire.

Visitors were invited to collect a map and discover all the large and mini oxen on display across the county.

Westgate hosted four of these oxen, named Oxford’s Starry Night, Crystal, Looking for Alice and Prehistoric Ox.

Centre director at Westgate Oxford, Brendan Hattam, said: "We’re incredibly proud to have played our part in the OxTrail this summer.

"We’re delighted to be hosting part of the herd in Leiden Square this weekend. It is going to be a fantastic sight."

To celebrate the seven week art installation, 50 of these oxen will gather at Leiden Square this weekend, allowing guests the opportunity to admire the designs.

Beth Marsh, a spokesperson for Sobell House Hospice, added: "We have been so thrilled to work closely with Westgate Oxford throughout OxTrail.

“We are so grateful for all the support from Westgate Oxford and the difference that this has made to the success of OxTrail, helping us to raise thousands of pounds which will go towards providing care for people facing life-limiting illnesses across Oxfordshire and supporting their loved ones.”
