The event ran from 11am until 5pm and was followed by an afterparty.
A procession opened the event, which featured 25 groups and more than 600 participants, celebrating the cultural diversity of Oxford.
John, Magdalena and Pawel, who did not disclose their surnames, joined the procession, representing Oxford Rollers.
John said they had "an absolute ball".
The procession was followed by entertainment such as improv comedy, belly dancing and Japanese drumming, as a well as a funfair, local food stalls, and walkabout performances.
City councillor Emily Kerr attended the carnival and praised the organisers.
Ms Kerr said: "I thought the atmosphere was amazing and the organisers did such a good job.

"My family loved watching the procession go by and dancing along to the music.
"It was brilliant to see so many people in fancy dress - adults and kids, performers and spectators. Also a ton of different food from all over the world.
"It had a real party atmosphere, and there was just such a positive vibe.
"It was a lovely close to the summer and I really hope it comes back again next year."
