A TEENAGER has been charged for causing the death of three young men after a crash in Marcham.

Passengers, Elliot Pullen, 17, Daniel Hancock, 18 and Ethan Goddard, 18 all died in the early hours of June 20 last year after a BMW crashed into a tree in Frilford Road, Marcham.

Police have now confirmed that Thomas Johnson, 19, of Stainswick Lane, Shrivenham, has been charged via a postal requisition with three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

Johnson was named locally as the driver at the time of the crash and was hospitalised until just before Christmas following the incident.

Thames Valley Police confirmed last month that a file summarising their investigation into the crash was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether a charge will be made in relation to the deaths.

Following the inquests of the three teens being delayed at Oxford Coroners Court on Wednesday (August 28) this week, police confirmed that a charge had been made.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A man has been charged in connection with a road traffic collision in Marcham in which three teenagers tragically died.

For days afterwards, All Saints Church in Marcham kept its doors open until 9pm. Inside, at the head of the central aisle, a two-tiered circular stand bore an array of small candles.

GoFundMe pages were also set up with more thousands donated.

The road was closed for almost two days after the crash but since reopening, groups of people flooded to the site to pay their respects.

Flowers, photos and messages were left at the side of the road.

A friend of Elliot’s girlfriend, from Wantage, said: “Elliot was so so lovely. Everyone was supporting the girls and their families last night.

“It’s horrible to think that someone our age is gone.”

The family of Daniel said their ‘worst fears were realised so tragically in the early hours of Tuesday morning.’

They added that they were ‘heartbroken’ and send their love and condolences to the other families affected.

Ethan’s family also paid tribute, writing that he was ‘loving son, protective brother, caring grandson, much-loved nephew, kindest boyfriend and loyal friend’.

Johnson is due in court on October 15 where the case will likely to be sent to Oxford Crown Court.
