Since Oasis announced their reunion on Tuesday, it is all anyone can talk about. But were you aware of the Oxford connection?

As Noel and Liam Gallagher - as well as fellow founder, Bonehead - get ready to take to the stage next summer, the Twittersphere (X) is buzzing with rumours of who could join them.

Some believe that Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will make up the rest of the band, but what of a familiar face from Oxford?

Andy Bell played the guitar in Oasis from 1999 - 2005 and was in Liam's next project, Beady Eye until its dissolution in 2014.

He said in an interview earlier this year that he thought the Britpop band would "probably" reunite "at some point".

However, Gallagher hit back, suggesting he shouldn't be getting fans "hopes up".

Someone then said: "He’s just saying what you’ve said a million times already Rasta".

To which Gallagher replied: "I’ve never mentioned an Oasis reunion. It’s over, we must all really move in for our own mental health".

Looking back now with hindsight...pull the other one Liam.

Who is Oasis bassist Andy Bell?

Born Andrew Piran Bell on August 11, 1970, in Oxford, Andy is best known as a key figure in several prominent bands and as a solo artist.

Andy co-founded the shoegaze band Ride in 1988 with Mark Gardener, Laurence Colbert and Steve Queralt.

Ride became known for its distinctive sound characterised by lush, reverberating guitar textures.

Despite some chart success, Hurricane #1 did not reach the same level of prominence as Ride.

In 1999, Andy joined Oasis as their bassist following the departures of Bonehead and Guigsy.
