Parts of the A34 and A4183 in Oxford will be closed over the next few weekends allowing essential repair works to a bridge.
These repairs, vital for maintaining the bridge on Oxford Road at Lodge Hill, include replacing waterproofing and joints, and installing new kerbs, as well as resurfacing and re-marking the road.
Over the next three weekends, the A4183 between Dunmore Road and Sugworth Lane will be shut to ensure safety for the workers.
Additionally, the northbound A34 entry slip at Abingdon will also be unavailable during the weekend closures.
However, the southbound A34 exit slip will be open, albeit only allowing traffic turning left down to Abingdon.
The dates for the full weekend closures are From 9pm, Friday, August 30 to 6am, Monday, September 2. From 9pm, Friday, September 6 to 6am, Monday, September 9. From 9pm, Friday, September 13 to 6am, Monday, September 16.
Pedestrians and cyclists will have a shuttle bus service at their disposal during any weekend closures or disruption to the footpath.
Plans for a diversion during the above periods include rerouting A4183 traffic through Oxford Road, Vineyard, Stratton Way, Ock Street and Marcham Road and temporarily diverting traffic from both sides of the bridge.
Anyone who is planning on travelling through the routes is encouraged to make allowances for additional travel time during this period.
Updates regarding the project can be found on the National Highways website.
