In English and Maths, 80 per cent of the school’s pupils achieved a grade 4 or above.

Pupil at the school Hannah Sherrington, who got nine 9s and one 7, said: “I’m really really pleased, I’ve got 9s in everything apart from a 7 in English literature.

“I have been so nervous but it’s been good to finally get it over with.

“I’m surprised by English literature, as I thought it was my best one.

“I want to study French, psychology, and music next year.

"Everyone is really excited, everyone was really nervous going and I think everyone is just happy to get it over and done with.”

Another pupil Amy Frampton said: "I cried [when I opened my results]. I am a bit of a perfectionist and my whole identity since I was six has been my academics."

Darcy Portnell added: “I was so nervous to come in. I got one 9, seven 8s and a 7.

“The exams were good but full on and constant all the time. I did the best I could.

“I found that English language was the hardest exam and I got an 8 but I did loads of revision for that one.

“I am staying here for A-levels to do psychology, economics and maths.

“I want to go to university but I am not sure what I want to do yet.

[I’m most excited] to do economics as it’s different to the subjects I have been doing for the past five years.

“It’s been so nice, everyone is very happy with how they have done.”

Molly at Burford School achieved ten 9s in her GCSEs while Caitlyn and her friend Ava both got four 9s.

Another pupil Chloe celebrated her fantastic with her mum and was particularly pleased with her 8 in music.
