A property development company has plans to turn a "redundant" yard near Wallingford into 15 new homes.

T A Fisher, based in Berkshire, announced the acquisition of the 0.65 acre site in Crowmarsh Gifford earlier this month.

It is situated on the main throughfare just before the bridge over the River Thames into Wallingford and was previously occupied by Jewson Builders Merchants.

Following the closure of Jewson earlier this year, T A Fisher said it has "plans to transform it into a high-quality residential scheme" featuring approximately 15 new homes.

It said this would be an "exciting transformation" and that the homes would be "thoughtfully designed to harmonise with the historical context of The Street".

"A key aspect of the proposed redevelopment is the retention and integration of the original brick and flint listed building on the frontage, preserving the site’s historical significance and charm," it said.

"This aligns with T A Fisher’s approach to developments and conversions, maintaining the area’s architectural heritage while delivering modern, desirable living spaces wherever possible.

This is subject to planning and a pre-application is currently being prepared.

Development director Steve Davies said: “We are delighted to have acquired this cracking little site in the heart of historic Crowmarsh Gifford and look forward to working with our design team and local stakeholders to transform this redundant yard into something special”.
