Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that the council in Oxfordshire have been “extremely helpful” with his new pub.
The former Top Gear host revealed he had recently purchased The Windmill which is nestled in five acres of countryside near Burford.
He reportedly paid “less than £1 million” for the watering hole but has recognised that lots of work needs to be done to get the location up to scratch.
Clarkson revealed on Tuesday that he had named the pub ‘The Farmer’s Dog’ and confirmed that the doors are set to open on Friday, just in time for the August Bank Holiday.

The most eye-catching of all of the shocks and surprises that have come from this purchase of the pub and its subsequent makeover is the local council’s input.
Fans of Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm know that Clarkson is no stranger to being at loggerheads with governing bodies.
West Oxfordshire District Council has faced a backlash from fans of the Prime Video show after quarrelling with the 64-year-old star at several points.
This included the council threatening to enact an enforcement notice on the farm shop in Chadlington to stop it from selling non-local food.
