A group of sixth form students from Bicester have helped to rebuild a school in Kenya.

Twenty-nine students from The Cooper School, armed with building tools donated by home improvement retailer Wickes and its Bicester store, travelled to Kenya to assist in renovating a school and its surrounding areas.

They also helped school staff with teaching and enrichment activities for the students.

The donation from Wickes, which included gloves, trowels, paintbrushes, roller sets, staple guns, staples and handsaws, was used to plaster and paint a classroom at St Trizah's School.

Suzanne Kirkwood, a teacher at Cooper School, said: "The Cooper School has just returned from an amazing trip to Kenya and on behalf of all the students and staff that visited, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Wickes Bicester team for the tools that they donated to us to help with the building and renovations of the school.

"The donation was hugely appreciated and a lovely surprise for the community in Kenya.

"The donation has made a significant impact, and we are incredibly grateful for this gesture."

Hayley Smith, store manager at Wickes Bicester, added: "We are immensely proud to have contributed our products to support this school volunteer project in Kenya.

"It's wonderful to know that the tools will remain with the community, aiding them in future improvement projects."
