Writing on X, Mr Clarkson said: "There’s a flagpole in the garden of my new pub and I’m wondering what sort of flag should be flown up there."

Suggestions have flooded in from fans, including a flag of 'Hawkstone', a new lager and cider, Clarkson's own alcohol brand made with Cotswold Brew Co at a brewery based on College Farm, just outside the village of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Other suggestions included The Diddly Squat Farm crest or one of Gerald Cooper, a dry stone wall specialist at Diddly Squat Farm, who is a fan favourite.
