The principal of an Oxford school said he is "incredibly proud" after more than half of its students' A-level grades were either an A or A*.

d’Overbroeck’s announced this year's cohort produced a 99.7 per cent pass rate overall as it congratulated them on their "outstanding" results.

Across the county, 32.8 per cent of grades were A or above, which was higher than the national average of 27.3 per cent.

Patrick Horne, principal at d’Overbroeck’s, said: "All of us here at d’Overbroeck’s are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our Year 13 students who have just completed their A-levels.

"The students have showcased exceptional resilience, hard work, and determination to fulfil their ambitions.

"Our dedicated and inspirational teachers have also worked incredibly hard in helping our students achieve this year’s excellent results, and we place tremendous value in the support of our close-knit community.

"Students have been successful at gaining places at some of the top universities, so we wish them well in their next steps and for the future."

The school is celebrating numerous standout students this year, including those accepted into the world's top universities.

Due to the results, students are heading to universities including Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, Kings College London, Edinburgh, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Warwick, Birmingham and Durham.
