Oxford is on red alert after a “violent” man who is on the run from prison was rumoured to be in the city.
Robert Jones is wanted on recall to prison after he was sentenced for a violent offence, say West Yorkshire Police (WYP).
The 56-year-old is believed to have headed to the south of England with WYP enquiries suggesting he was last in the Havant and Portsmouth area.
Thames Valley Police is now on high alert after it was suggested that Jones had recently travelled to Oxford and officers have since warned the public.
