An authority has unveiled new plans to introduce more parking restrictions to a city ward prompting a local councillor to brand aspects of the proposals "odd".
Oxfordshire County Council is asking householders in the Iffley area of Oxford whether they support plans to introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) which includes a package of measures such as double yellow lines and permit parking only areas.
The scheme would be introduced as a ‘Permit Parking Area’ (PPA) which uses entry and repeater signs to inform motorists of the restrictions in place, with operational hours for the zone for ‘Residents Permit Parking’ being Monday to Sunday between 8am and 6.30pm.
Non-permit holders will be eligible to park for a maximum of two hours with no return within two hours during these hours.
This follows an informal consultation, carried out at the end of 2023 by the Labour county councillor for the Isis division, Brad Baines.

The response from 171 participants suggested 89 per cent agreed there were parking issues in the area and 68 per cent supported a wider scheme geographically when faced with three CPZ options.
Rose Hill & Iffley Independent Oxford Alliance councillor David Henwood said: "While most people recognise there is a parking problem in some areas of Iffley, some would like to see a CPZ, while others would like to see the introduction of two hour parking restrictions.
"Some residents have complained that the county officers simply haven't done their homework.
"An example is Tudor Close which is a private close with designated private parking, these have appeared as part of the proposed CPZ, taking away private spaces.
"The concern is I am hearing the county council also want to introduce a CPZ in Rose Hill.
"Residents objected to the previous attempt, but it seems the county council no longer accepts the view of local residents.
"I have seen nothing formal yet but I have sent out a questionnaire to residents asking them for their thoughts. Seems odd this should happen in August."
The comments come as Mr Henwood's fresh survey with 51 responses so far suggests 86.3 per cent of people do not want a CPZ in Rose Hill.
The county council has now formally confirmed a formal consultation for a proposed CPZ in the Rose Hill area will be going out within the next few weeks.
A spokesman said: "Areas within the zone deemed private or un-adopted would not be subject to the proposed controlled measures.
"In accordance with the council's policies on traffic management and parking restraint, which seeks to manage transport & development, and protect residential streets, new CPZs are being proposed and introduced across Oxford to address numerous local issues, along with helping to support the delivery of wider transport initiatives across the city.
"A proposed CPZ for the Rose Hill area will be going out to formal consultation within the next few weeks, and we would invite residents and members of the public to feedback on the proposals via the consultation survey which will be published on the Lets Talk Oxfordshire page’."
Householders have until 5pm on Friday September 6 to give their thoughts on the proposed Iffley CPZ.
