A burst water pipe has closed a large stretch of the A4130 between Wallingford and Didcot.
Thames Water engineers are on site and have isolated the burst part of the water main to carry out repairs.
The burst main was reportedly firing water approximately 40 feet in the air on Thursday morning.
It has caused the road to close and has resulted in diversions for motorists.

A statement from Thames water said: "Due to a burst watermain between Didcot and Brightwell, our services will be diverting via Sires Hill and will be unable to serve Didcot, Tesco in both directions until further notice."
Initially it was planned for the road to reopen with two-way traffic lights in place as soon as it was safe to do so.
However this afternoon a spokeswoman for Thames Water said: "The excavation has had to extend closer to the centre white line than expected, so it will not be safe to reopen the road with two way lights.
"The road will therefore remain closed to traffic until it is safe to fully reopen."
It comes after a water main burst dramatically in Nettlebed Mead in the Greater Leys area of Oxford in February.
Thames Water was alerted at the time and brought the leak under control by lunchtime after it was first reported at 10am.
