A pupil has taken his maths A-level exam a year after already achieving an A grade when he took the exam two years before usual.
Jacob Grindley who has now sat for the second time was hoping to achieve an A* as he dreams of studying at Cambridge University after completing his time at Wood Green School next year.
And the year 12 pupil was left visibly shaking after opening his results as he learnt he secured the A* grade after taking the exam a year earlier than his peers.
He said: “It was a lot of work but I think it has definitely prepared me for what A-levels are actually going to be like and for the workload you are going to put in if you want to get the top marks.
“I thought I reckon I can do this and why not, it gives me one under the belt, gives me a fun challenge and there is no pressure as I can always move it to year 13.
“I did it last year and got an A and thought I could boost it up to an A* so I went for the re-sit and got it so that’s brilliant.
“[My friends] think I am a bit crazy. They said why would you bother with all that much stress when you’ve already got the A, why would you do it again?”
Next year, he will continue his studies in French, chemistry, physics and further maths
He added: “Hopefully after I’m off to study maths or science. I’d love to go to Cambridge because it's really nice but whether I do will determine how much I put into the sixth term examination papers but that would be the dream.”
