A garden in Chipping Norton has won an Oxfordshire care home gardening competition.
The award of Best Overall Garden in Oxfordshire was given to the Henry Cornish Care Centre by The Orders of St John Care Trust's (OSJCT) in its annual Trust in Bloom competition.
The centre was one of 55 OSJCT homes competing in the competition and as the county winner, will receive £250 vouchers from competition sponsor Ground Care Group.
The care home also bagged certificates for Best Wildlife Garden Areas and Best Edible Gardening, and was a runner up in Kerb Appeal and Miniature Garden categories in the trust’s central division.
The garden features raised beds for edible gardening, tree and plants donated by residents, including a rose chosen by Joyce Tyrell to mark her 102nd birthday, and a secluded area featuring a memory tree.
Laura Beadle, home manager, said: "We're completely overjoyed to win Best Overall Garden in Oxfordshire.
"To see how our garden has transformed is incredible.
"Our residents, carers, the activities team, the admin staff - everyone has pulled together. Winning is such a joy.
"We didn't really expect it, but we wanted it, and we really worked hard. I’m so proud of the whole team."
To mark the achievement, Henry Cornish Care Centre is hosting an open garden and BBQ on Wednesday, August 21, from midday to 3pm.
