SPIRITS are high at a sixth form in Oxfordshire after several students receive the highest grades in their A-Level Results.
Students at Wallingford School, in St George’s Road, collected their results this morning (Thursday, August 15) for their A-Level examinations.
Several students received their highest grade of A* and many are off to their chosen universities whilst others are taking on gap years.

Maddie Cooper, 18, achieved A, A, C in sociology, psychology and biology and is off to Leeds University to student genetics.
“I just loved Leeds,” she said. “I didn’t really have anywhere else that jumped out for me.”
Miss Cooper described the examinations as ‘fine’ but noted that biology was ‘hard’.
Her friend, Emily Gesner, 18, achieved an A*, A, A in Biology, Chemistry and German and is off to Bath University to study natural sciences.
She called her placement this morning to change her course over from biochemistry.

“I didn’t really know what to do,” she said. “I had five different changes in career plans and now I want more chemistry in my degree.”
Edward Archer, 18, achieved three A’s in Biology, Maths, and Physics and is heading to Sheffield University to study biomedical engineering.
“They were alright,” he said, describing the exams. “I was happy with it.”
His advice is: “Start early, start revising early and keeping it ticking.”
Lewis Wood, 18, received two A*’s and an A in Maths, Biology, and Geography and is also off to Sheffield University.
“They were as difficult as I expected,” he said. “Just keep going even if you think they’ve gone badly – it’ll be better than you think.”
Louis Devinc, 18, received three A*’s in Chemistry, Biology, and Maths and hasn’t yet made a decision and his next move.
“I’ve always to go to Cambridge,” he said. “But I may take a gap year and do an internship.”
Bea Thorne, 17, studied History, English Literature, and Maths and received two A*s and an A this morning (Thursday, August 15).
She has accepted her place to study English at Cambridge University, starting next month.

Her friend, Lola Gunn, 18, achieved three A*s in maths, chemistry, and biology and just missed out on a Cambridge acceptance as her UCAT exam had run out and needs to be retaken.
She will be working as a receptionist for a doctor's surgery in Benson before re-applying.
“I’ve always been interested in the body and biology and working in the hub has shown me I love working with people so it makes sense,” she said.
