A sausage dog that got stuck in a badger hole has been rescued by firefighters after parkgoers heard the pup “stop barking”.
The fire service was called to South Lodge in Oxford on Saturday (August 10) after a dog was unable to free himself from a hole in University Park at around 6.20pm.
A man passing by, who regularly uses the park but asked to remain anonymous, told the Oxford Mail the dog is named Rufus and he had seen the dog previously get stuck in a bush.

He said the dog was stuck underground for at least an hour and a half.
“They [firefighters] were very worried.
"He wasn’t barking too much at the end,” he said.
After the fire engines arrived from Oxford’s Rewley Road fire station it took the crew around 40 minutes to free the dog.
However, the dog was pictured safe and well after being rescued as the firefighters were able to reunite him with the owners.
