There are two traffic measures for West Oxfordshire drivers to look out for in the coming weeks.

Traffic restrictions are set to come into force for the construction of the Shores Green Interchange on the A40.

The county council is introducing a temporary weight restriction at South Leigh for the construction of the scheme which is anticipated to be completed in September 2026.

In the interests of public safety a short section of Sough Leigh Road to Chapel Road to Station Road to Stanton Harcourt Road to the lane through South Leigh will be closed.

A 7.5-tonne goods vehicle weight limit requested by South Leigh Parish Council will also be introduced.

The restriction will operate from September 7 up to and including September 30, 2026. This is a 24 hour weight restriction.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor.

Meanwhile a road from West Oxfordshire into Faringdon will be closed for three weeks for works by Thames Water.

Franklin Infrastructure will close a section of Bampton Road in Clanfield while essential trenchless lining installation and repair works to the existing sewer on behalf of Thames Water works are carried out.

Bampton Road will be closed between Black Bourton Road and Marsh Lane from August 29 up to and including September 18.

Exemptions are included for access to properties on the closed section of the road and is maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.

Oxfordshire County Council said the alternative route for traffic is via Bampton Road, A4095 Clanfield Road, Bridge Street, Broad Street, Station Road, Curbridge Road, Ducklington Lane, A415 Standlake Road, Witney Road, Abingdon Road, A420, London Street, Church Street, Radcot Road, A4095 Main Street and vice versa.
