A girl who disappeared from Oxfordshire has been found safely after a six-day search.

Alexis, whose surname was not provided by Thames Valley Police, was initially reported missing from Abingdon on Friday, August 2.

After she was not found in Oxfordshire following a five-day search, the case was transferred over to London’s Met Police.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “This investigation has now been transferred to the Metropolitan Police Service.”

She has now been confirmed safe and well after she was found on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the Oxfordshire police force said: “Good news. A girl from Abingdon has been found safe and well after being reported missing on Friday.

“Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal to find 14-year-old Alexis.”

Guidance on missing people states it is not wasting officers' time to report someone as missing. 

It also says people will not be in trouble with police for going missing. 

"You do not have to wait 24 hours to report someone missing. We are here to protect you and your loved ones," the guidance adds.
