The areas most likely to flood in Oxfordshire have been revealed, according to new research.

Floods once again hit the county on Thursday, August 1, as a storm hit Wallingford with the flash flood causing extensive damage to local businesses.

Waitrose on St Martin's Street and The Dolphin pub on St Mary's Street were both hit after a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.

A flood report has been created by Online Marketing Surgery and Perfect Ponds which looks at areas in Oxfordshire with the most and least rainfall over a yearly period.

The area in Oxfordshire that is most likely to flood is Chipping Norton according to the data, as the area’s total rainfall was 886mm last year.

Henley has been revealed as the area that is least likely to flood in Oxfordshire with 678mm of rainfall last year.

After last week’s flash flooding, Wallingford is actually ranked lower on the list with 797mm of rainfall from last year.

Only Thame, other than bottom-ranked Henley, comes in lower than Wallingford with a total of 786mm rainfall.

Oxford comes in with a middle-of-the-road score with 821mm of rainfall while Abingdon and Didcot come in at 812mm and 805mm respectively.

Bicester and Banbury both had higher rainfalls with 825mm and 822mm respectively as Witney was faced with 840mm.

Elsewhere Faringdon was dealt 800mm of rainfall while Woodstock, Wantage and Carterton received 844mm, 805mm and 836mm of rainfall respectively.
