A NEW top prosecutor from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) across Oxfordshire has been named.
Lisa Ramsarran has taken up the role of chief Crown prosecutor and will have overall responsibility for all criminal cases prosecuted by the CPS in Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Ms Ramsarran brings almost 30 years of legal experience to her new role, having started her career as a prosecutor with the CPS the South East.

Most recently, she has headed up the capital’s homicide and rape and serious sexual offences teams as deputy chief Crown prosecutor in London.
She said: “In my first few weeks as Chief Crown Prosecutor it is already clear I have joined a team who are committed to making our communities feel safer and securing justice for victims.
“It is a challenging time for the criminal justice system as a whole and in the Crown Prosecution Service we will continue to focus on reducing delays, improving the support we can provide to our victims and witnesses, and securing justice in all of our cases.

“I see us working closely with our criminal justice partners to build strong prosecution cases, but also with our communities to understand their concerns and build public confidence in the service we provide.”
Ms Ramsarran added that her priority will be to ‘build confidence in how we handle crimes of violence against women and girls’.
