The second and third floors of a former historic high street bank which closed earlier this year are set to be turned into flats.

The 18th-century building used to be home to Natwest before the major bank closed its Thame branch on Cornmarket on March 1.

The closure came due to the growing number of people taking their banking online instead of using the branch.

Since then Gail’s Bakery has opened on the ground floor while the rest of the building has undergone a renovation to install 26 windows for the new homes.

Thame-based installer Silent View Windows partnered with window and door designer the Residence Collection in an attempt to match the building’s character.

The windows, named Residence 9 (R9), were chosen for their “exceptional design and energy efficiency”.

Enis Evlat, managing director at Silent View Windows, said: “We are so pleased that the R9 windows perfectly replicate the style of the windows from 1910.

“These windows not only add to the aesthetics but also bring exceptional durability and energy efficiency.

“The Residence Collection's R9 windows are celebrated for their ability to meet the stringent requirements of conservation areas, making them the go-to choice for heritage projects across the UK.”

Jo Trotman, marketing manager at the Residence Collection said: “This transformation is a perfect example of how our windows can replicate a heritage look while still being high-performing and energy-efficient.

“The result is a seamless blend of old and new, honouring the building's legacy while providing contemporary living spaces.”
