THE University of Oxford will be looking to defend its crown when new rankings are released in the coming months.
Times Higher Education’s World University Ranking releases a list of the best universities around the globe every year in either September or October.
Oxford University has topped the rankings for eight consecutive years.
Oxford University is the oldest university in the UK and has been named as the best university in the world in the latest rankings published in September 2023.

Aside from Oxford, nine other universities have been recognised as providing the best education system.
Of these, only two others were UK institutions with the University of Cambridge coming in at fifth and Imperial College London ranked as eighth.

There are 18 performance indicators that become the benchmark for ranking campuses calibrated in five areas.
These namely include teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
The University of Oxford is on the lookout for a new chancellor following 80-year-old Lord Chris Patten’s decision to retire later this year.
More than 250,000 Oxford graduates and former staff members will be able to vote online for the role which has only been held by three people since 1960.
