A newly refurbished soft play area in Banbury has been officially opened.
The Play Zone at Castle Quay opened on Saturday (August 3), by a representative from the Sunshine Centre, which supports families, alongside a young family.
The revamped area boasts new furniture, including sofas and nursing chairs for mothers with babies.
It also features a new play area with sensory areas and early years toys. The space has been decorated in a new jungle animal theme.
As part of the opening celebrations, free musical play performances were provided by the People’s Theatre Collective in the new space from July 26 to July 29.
Directed by Tristan Jackson-Pate, ‘A Home for Harmony’ tells the tale of Sam and his assistance dog, Bouncer.
Written by Renata Allen with songs by Joshua Baldwin, it was created with support from Dogs for Good - UK, an organisation that enable people to make day-to-day life easier through connections with dogs.
Oliver Wren, centre director at Castle Quay Shopping Centre, said: "I think that families within Banbury will be very excited about the return of our soft play area.
"It’s become a very important space for families within the community and we really hope visitors love the refresh it’s had, and the added facilities and improved seating installed.
"A big thank you to People’s Theatre Collective for premiering their new musical play at Castle Quay too."
