A DEATH by dangerous driving trial has been rescheduled after the defendant was hospitalised.

Lorry driver Barry Archer, 43, was on trial at Oxford Crown Court last month charged with causing the death of Tom Glancy, 64, by dangerous driving.

The incident occurred on July 16, 2020, on the A420 near Pusey.

Archer denied the offence but has pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of causing death by careless driving.

The Crown Prosecution Service did not accept the alternative charge plea and the trial started on Tuesday last week (July 23).

However, the jury was dismissed after a week due to Archer being hospitalised and the case being delayed for several days.

A new trial date has been scheduled for May 19 next year.
