A key footbridge on an estate in Witney has been replaced following emergency repairs.
West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) said the Madley Brook wooden bridge on Madley Park Estate in the town required “urgent replacement” for safety reasons.
Work began on July 29 with the lane from Madley Park to Newland, opposite the Griffin Pub, suggested as a detour.

Works were expected to last for several weeks.
However, last week WODC said the bridge has now been replaced and is open to the public again.
Householders had complained that the bridge presented a danger when the brook is full as it had no side railings.
They also said the areas around the bridge and footpath running alongside the copse leading to Madley Brook Lane are "highly overgrown and spreading into the footpath".
