Thames Valley Police has issued a warning following a number of suspected scrap metal thefts in south Oxfordshire.

Police are urging the public to store scrap metal out of sight and only leave it unattended in secure premises following the suspected thefts in which the village of Garsington was a particular target.

Offenders target buildings undergoing renovation, isolated sheds, metal left in the open and insecure garages, say Thames Valley Police.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "There have recently been a number of sightings of vehicles and persons suspected to be engaged in theft of scrap metal including copper cables in the South Oxfordshire area, particularly Garsington.
