Hundreds of people turned out for the 223rd Witney Park Run in the sun last weekend.

Among the 268 finishers on Saturday, July 27, were 16 first-timers as well as participants visiting from locations including Cornwall, Yorkshire, Portsmouth, London, Cheltenham and Winchester.

Witney Parkrun volunteer Rebecca Roache shared details of the event online, saying 44 participants achieved their personal bests.

She also said the event, which takes place at 9am every Saturday, is just 85 runners away from seeing its 10,000th participant cross the line, who will win free parkruns for life.

The 5km run was supported by 29 "absolutely splendid" volunteers, Ms Roache said.

This week's parkrun will be Pacer Week, which needs volunteers to take part as normal but wear a blue vest with a number on.

Ms Roache also praised the volunteers who go around the course during the week, collecting litter so it is ready for runners at the weekend.
