A roundabout in Oxford will be closed to traffic this weekend for resurfacing work to be carried out.

Diversions will be in place between 8pm on Friday (August 2) and 6am on Monday (August 5) while the Littlemore roundabout, on the city’s eastern bypass, is closed.

Motorists are advised to be aware of the closure and use the suggested alternative routes.

During the closure, there will be no travel along the eastern bypass between the Heyford Hill roundabout and the B480 Cowley Road interchange in both directions.

Westbound traffic travelling along the eastern bypass will be reduced to a single lane, while eastbound traffic will face a similar situation as well as a speed reduction.

Westbound travellers will then be taken off at the B480 Cowley interchange to join the signed diversion route.

The Sandy Lane West slip road will also be closed where it intercepts the bypass heading west towards Littlemore roundabout.

Residents in the affected area will still have access to their homes, and bus service will operate between Sandford-on-Thames and the city.

The 24/7 operation is designed to minimise disruption and accomplish the task more cost-effectively.

There will be separate crews working both day and night to ensure continuous working throughout.

The alternative would have seen the project extend over 11 individual nights, leading to more disruption and a higher cost.
