A driver threatened another man with a hammer and tried to punch him following a minor road accident.
The collision happened on Brize Norton Road in Carterton between 4.40pm and 5pm on Monday (July 22).
Following the assault the offender made off in a black Ford Fiesta, said police.
A 40-year-old man from Carterton has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault by beating and fraudulently using a registration mark.

The victim, who is in his late 40s, did not require hospital treatment.
Investigating officer PC Oliver Rees said: “I understand that this incident may cause concern but I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating this incident as a priority and have already made an arrest."
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a black Ford Fiesta at this time and location, is being asked to get in touch with the police.
Additionally, anyone who was in the area at the time should check any dash-cam footage for anything that could assist the police investigation.
