Cowley Road Carnival 2024 is preparing for a triumphant return after five years away.

Trustees of Cowley Road Works made the announcement in March that the event, which has not taken place since 2019, will be back on Sunday, September 1.

All groups interested in participating in the procession are invited to get in touch with organisers via the event website.

The deadline for entries has been extended to July 29.

"As a local artist and parent, I am so honoured to be part of this exciting rebirth."

Exciting programmes and activities artistic director and CEO Pax Nindi added: "The community needs to be ready for all this excitement.

"For example, next week we will be announcing our Mas Camp Programme, taking place in August, where the community can come and make or design their own costumes based on our theme Our Nature Our Future.

"And that’s not all. We still have house floats and street parties planned before the carnival.

"We appreciate your support and encourage you to get involved in any way you can - whether it’s participating in the procession, attending our pre-carnival events, or simply spreading the word, your involvement is crucial to the success of the carnival."

Cowley Road Carnival relies on funding sponsorship, stalls and sales and in the past has been funded or sponsored by The Arts Council, BMW Mini, Brookes University, Global Carnivalz, Oxford City Council and its partners.
