A group of young students from Nanjing, China, recently embarked on an educational journey to Greene’s College Oxford, where they participated in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) course. While Oxford's historic spires and prestigious university colleges draw many tourists, these seven students, aged 10 to 16, experienced something uniquely enriching. Accompanied by adults, including interpreters, the group delved into British culture and language.

The students, hailing from various schools in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, are members of the Nanjing Television Young Newsreaders after-school club, a program run by Nanjing TV Station. With an audience exceeding five million viewers, the program aims to cultivate young journalistic talent. Their two-week UK tour was packed with educational activities, including an insightful visit to the BBC Cardiff studios.

During their media-themed tour, the students had the opportunity to explore BBC Wales's state-of-the-art television and radio studios. This behind-the-scenes experience offered them a closer look at the operations of a major broadcasting network, an invaluable glimpse for aspiring newsreaders.

The visit to Greene’s College Oxford marked a highlight of their trip. Here, they engaged in an EFL course tailored to enhance their language skills while providing a deep immersion into British culture. Mrs. Wu, the executive producer of Nanjing TV Station's 'English Newsreader' program and the driving force behind the after-school club, accompanied the group, ensuring the students maximised their learning experience.

The educational journey was meticulously organised by Oxford-based Scholars on Tour, a company specialising in educational and cultural tours for schools across the UK and China. This organisation aims to offer students enriching experiences that broaden their educational and cultural horizons.

The students on this insightful journey included Chen Felix Qiuhan, Shan Ziang, Yang Zhirui, Wang Boyun, Zhu Zixian, Wei Xuehan, and Sun Sirong. Their visit not only provided a comprehensive look into the UK's media landscape but also fostered cross-cultural understanding and education. This unique experience highlights the importance of global educational exchanges in building bridges between cultures and enhancing the learning experiences of young minds.
