An accessible boat club has benefitted from a tea party fundraiser which amassed hundreds of pounds.
Wallingford Accessible Boat Club (WABC), was the beneficiary of the event hosted on Saturday, July 20, by Benson House Care Home.
The charity enables disabled and less mobile people to get out and about on the River Thames.
The event included award presentations, a draw for a bottle of bubbly, the sale of the club's grand summer raffle tickets and an assortment of tea and cakes.
Jim MacLeod, customer relations manager for Benson House Care Home, organised the event and said: “WABC is a wonderful organisation and our residents just love getting out on the river here at Benson in the club’s wheelyboat.
"What is truly amazing is that they do not charge for their service. So, we wanted to do something for them."
Through raffles and donations from the home’s residents, their families and friends, and Benson House, they raised £282.
John Jenkins, chairman of WABC, said: "We are so very thankful to Benson House - our volunteers love taking their staff and residents out on the river, they all get so much enjoyment from their trips.
"We had a lovely afternoon and were delighted that London Marathon runner Abi Turner could join us to give a talk about her recent experience."
Ms Turner was presented with the WABC Community Champion Award for raising £2,542 for the club.
