A Banbury care home's celebration of National Ice Cream Day was greeted with a heatwave last week.
Staff and residents at Glebefields Care Home enjoyed the weather and a range of cooling treats on July 21.
They tried a range of different toppings and flavour combinations for sorbets, frozen yoghurts and dairy-based ice creams.
General manager, Nisha Shaji, said: "National Ice Cream Day was a sweet surprise for everyone at Glebefields.
"Not just our residents, but our staff members were equally thrilled. Who can resist the charm of ice cream?
"We have had an absolute blast experimenting with new flavours and toppings, and it's been a refreshing way to beat the summer heat."
One resident, Tom, said: "My sundae is called 'Nutty Delight', its vanilla and strawberry ice cream with lots of whipped Millac Gold cream, smothered in crushed hazelnuts and decorated with a chocolate roll."
Another, Joan, added: "My sundae is called 'Glebefields' Glory' - it's vanilla ice cream topped with Millac Gold whipped cream, smothered in chocolate sauce, and decorated with a fan wafer, chocolate roll, and miniature ice cream cone mallow sweets. It's yummy."
The ice cream tasting was part of the home's enrichment programme, which aims to keep residents active, and provides a daily choice of physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
