THE sentencing of a young man guilty of sexually abusing a child when he was a teenager has been delayed.

Cameron-john Brady, 27, of Thornton Street, Birkenhead, was charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, five counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, two counts of assault by penetration and one count of causing or inciting a child to watch a sexual act.

At Oxford Crown Court on June 4, following a trial, a jury found him guilty of all counts except two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration and two counts of assault by penetration.

The offences took place in Milcombe, a village near Banbury, across several years in the late 2000s.

He was due to be sentenced at the same court on Thursday (July 25). However, the case has been adjourned until August 15.

Judge Hassan Khan said: “I’m very sorry I haven’t been able to reach a final decision today. This isn’t the most straightforward of sentencing exercises.

“I wasn’t prepared to hastily sentence the defendant today.”

Submissions were made by both prosecution and defence in terms of which sentencing guidelines they believe the offending falls under.

The court also heard Brady has no previous convictions and has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD and depression.
