People have been caught out by an event scam in Oxfordshire.
Several adverts were posted online advertising family fun days in Didcot with great interest growing from those planning on attending.
However, Didcot Town Council denied that any such event was taking place in an urgent update across their social media pages posted this afternoon (July 23).

A town council spokesperson said: “If you see an advert for an event being held in Fleet Meadow Community Hall, Didcot Civic Hall, Edmonds Park Pavilion or Willowbrook Leisure Centre and the event has not been advertised on our Facebook pages, please email council@didcot.gov.uk to check the event is not a scam before paying for anything, such as tickets or stall pitch.”
Fleet Meadow Community Hall added: “It has been brought to our attention that events called 'Family Fest' and 'Family Fun Day' have been advertised online.
"However these events are not real and are not booked into Fleet Meadow Community Hall.”
