AN application to change the date of a trial for a car passenger accused of not wearing a seat belt has been refused.

Michael Duffy, of Spencer Crescent, Oxford, was allegedly caught on September 9 last year not wearing a seat belt whilst sitting in the front passenger seat.

The offence reportedly took place in Buckingham Road, Bicester.

The 37-year-old was charged under the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 for not wearing a seat belt.

He pleaded not guilty and a trial date has been set to take place at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on August 23.

An application to break the trial fixture was heard at the same court on Tuesday (July 23) but the application was denied.
