The parking capacity at Oxford’s Thornhill park and ride will be reduced for three months to allow for work to be carried out at the site.

Resurfacing and drainage improvements will begin at the London Road site on Saturday, July 27, and are expected to finish on October 1.

While the park and ride will remain operational, its capacity will decrease from 1,335 to approximately 600.

Bus stops for services to the city centre and Oxford’s hospitals will be relocated to the main car park to allow repairs to be carried out at the existing bus turning circle.

The main car park will not be open to park in, with the exception of the disabled parking bays.

The terminal building, equipped with toilets, a coffee kiosk, and a waiting area, will remain open during this period.

Electronic display boards around the city will provide updates, including queueing traffic announcements.

The county's five other park and ride sites will be unaffected while the work is carried out at Thornhill.

These are Bicester park and ride, which is near Bicester Shopping Village, Oxford Parkway park and ride, based north of Oxford, Seacourt park and ride, located to the west of Oxford, Redbridge park and ride, in the south, and Pear Tree park and ride, which is also north of Oxford.
