A PAEDOPHILE has been caught with a sexualised image of cartoon character Lisa Simpson after sending sexual messages to what he thought was a young boy.

David Robins, 25, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday (July 22) for possession of an indecent image of a child, six breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and two counts of failing to comply with notification requirements.

The defendant was first made subject to a SHPO at Swansea Crown Court on November 2 last year after being caught with a sexualised picture of Lisa Simpson – a cartoon character who is eight years old.

He was also caught attempting to engage in sexual communication with a young boy. He sent pictures of his penis and asked for naked photographs in return.

The account turned out to be a police officer and Robins was charged and sentenced.

However, since this hearing, he was found to be breaching his SHPO by concealing internet devices, using 'incognito mode', having social media accounts, accessing the internet, and deleting internet history.

When being checked by his supervising officers, Robins failed to tell them about an unregistered device which he was hiding in his jacket pocket.

On this hidden device, Robins was also caught with a Category B image of a naked child aged between six to eight years old.

He was also caught failing to tell the police about his change of address.

Defending Robins, his barrister Christopher Pembridge explained that Robins had failed to report to police his address as he was homeless and did not have the money to travel to a police station.

“He accepts there’s no excuse for this offences,” he said. “He has, in fairness, accepted responsibility at the first opportunity”

Mr Pembridge also explained that Robins’s mental age is lower than his actual age and that he has been diagnosed with global development delay.

He added that his childhood and young adulthood has been ‘troubled’ and he also has a diagnosis of ADHD.

While in prison, he also completed some courses and has applied for a business course but Mr Pembridge said the opportunities ‘are limited’ where he is at HMP Bullingdon, near Bicester.

The court heard that probation suggested Robins cannot be managed within society.

Robins, of no fixed abode but formerly of an address in East Hanney, was jailed for two years and six months by Judge Maria Lamb.

She said: “The mitigation, in fact, is your level of maturity is perhaps not mirrored in your age.”
