An archaeology event was held at the Wallingford Museum at the weekend.

The Family Archaeology Day, held on Saturday, July 20 from 11am until 4pm, was an opportunity for the community to meet experts from The Wallingford Historical and Archaeological Society (TWHAS).

Those attending the event had the chance to explore and discover the earth beneath their feet in Wallingford and the surrounding towns, villages and countryside.

They could also bring in their own finds for identification, as well as meet the archaeologists.

The event programme entailed multiple themes, including Finds, Get Hands On - where visitors could have a go at a micro-digging, rescuing artefacts, washing and identifying them - and Finding Archaeology, where visitors could discover how aerial photography and crop marks can locate possible archaeology in the countryside.
