A four-year-old girl "with a big heart" is taking on a walking challenge to support "poorly children".

Lottie, from Wantage, has been walking around a large field every day this July to raise money for the Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Despite facing wind, rain, and only occasionally sunshine, she has managed to raise £370 so far.

A GoFundMe page has been set up and has received 44 donations, helping Lottie to sail past her initial target of £50.

Last week she had a pleasant surprise when the charity's mascot, Harry Bear, accompanied her on her daily walk.

Lottie's decision to fundraise sprung from her fascination with a charity car wash held by local firefighters.

After a discussion with her mum, Lottie decided she wanted to "do charity" and help "poorly children".

Lottie has had personal experiences with the Oxford Children’s Hospital due to her asthma, which has at times resulted in breathing difficulties.

The hospital's play specialists, who provided toys and craft materials to cheer Lottie up during her numerous stays, left a lasting impression on her.

Lottie's mum, Rachel, said: "If anyone can spare even £1, it would mean so much to not only help a worthy charity but also encourage a very keen little girl to keep helping others.

"I am so proud of Lottie for coming up with this idea by herself. The world definitely needs more Lotties."
