A McDonalds branch on a retail park in Banbury is ‘owned’ by King Charles III.
The entirety of Banbury Gateway Shopping Park, where the McDonalds is located, is managed by the Crown Estate which is owned by the Monarch.
The retail park is also home to many other shops including Primark, Next, M&S and River Island.
Although many people living in the north Oxfordshire town know this, those who do not live in Banbury may not be aware of this fact.

After the queen passed in 2022 the McDonald's, along with the rest of her land, was passed down to her son King Charles III.
According to Business Insider, the shopping park is one of only two sites managed by the Crown Estate in Oxfordshire, the other being the Westgate Shopping Centre in Oxford.
Crown Estate assets and land are not the private property of the monarch, meaning he does not manage or make decisions about them, nor does he receive revenue from them.

The estates are managed by a board who have a duty to maintain and enhance their value under the Crown Estate Act of 1961.
In 2018, Business Insider visited the McDonalds, which opened in 2015, and described it as "one of the poshest they'd ever seen".
At the time, the manager and franchise owner were aware that the branch is part of the Crown Estate.
