An eatery on a busy Oxford street has been given a low food hygiene rating.
Qin Noodle was visited by inspectors on Wednesday, June 12, and they were not impressed with the conditions at the business.
Having seen the facilities at the Jericho restaurant, Oxford City Council’s Environmental Health team issued the eatery with a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The report stated that ‘major improvement’ was ‘necessary’ in general at Qin Noodle during the inspectors’ visit earlier this summer.

One major issue at the site was the restaurant’s management of food safety which was rated as also requiring ‘major improvement’.
This refers to whether there is a system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served at the venue is safe to eat.
It also concerns whether there is evidence that staff know about food safety and if the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
Despite facing problems in that regard, the restaurant’s hygienic food handling was rated as ‘generally satisfactory’.

This refers to the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food.
Similarly, Qin Noodle's cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were described as ‘good’.
This includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
The Oxford Mail approached Qin Noodle for comment on the new hygiene rating.
