The UK's largest woodland conservation charity has given out 15 million young trees for free since 2010

Acknowledging this achievement equates to an impressive average of over a million saplings annually.

With the deadline for autumn's distribution approaching, the Trust is appealing to people in eastern England to leverage this hassle-free initiative to address climate change and biodiversity crisis.

The charity's last distribution, in March 2024, resulted in 26,995 saplings relocating to southern England.

This contribution formed a fraction of 365,985 trees supplied throughout the UK.

Specifically, Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, and Oxfordshire received 5,205, 4,455, 11,445, 1,515, and 4,335 trees respectively.

The application window for the next delivery, scheduled for September 2024, closes on August 26.

The process for acquiring saplings is uncomplicated, simply complete a form on https://www.

Supplying several hundred thousand free trees biannually for planting in spring and autumn is a cornerstone of the Woodland Trust initiative.

The offered batches of saplings—15, 30, 105, or 420 trees per pack—are available in various types to suit different requirements including hedging, copse, wildlife enhancement, or wild harvest.

Woodland Trust senior project lead Steve Shill said: "Planting trees is such a simple action, but the collective impact can make a huge difference to people and the planet,” he said.

"Trees help nature, combat flooding, provide shelter and reduce pollution. And they unite communities, inspire pride and bring huge benefits for mental wellbeing.

"It’s a great way for schoolchildren and all sorts of community groups – from sports clubs to faith groups – to learn about the environment and do their bit.

"Every school should have trees, but if you don’t have space to plant, don’t worry – you can still get involved in planting. Why not partner with a local community group or council to plant trees in a public space?

"As ever, the support and generosity of our funders is crucial; we simply couldn’t do this without them.

"The help each and every one of them provides is hugely appreciated and ensures we can provide and deliver our saplings in such huge numbers."
